INVESTMENTS TO HCM CITY IPS, EPZS JUMP 176% TO US$391.55M IN H1
[27-07-2010] Ho Chi Minh City-based industrial parks (IPs) and export processing zones (EPZs) attracted US$391.55 million from domestic and foreign projects in the first half of this year, up 176% from a year earlier. Of the sum, US$99.11 million came from foreign projects and US$225.44 million from domestic ones, up 91% and 293% from a year ago, respectively.

BLUE-EAR PIG DISEASE SPREADS TO 13 PROVINCES AND CITIES
[11-05-2010] Blue-ear pig disease has spread to 13 provinces and cities nationwide, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on May 9.They are Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Ninh and Bac Giang.Bac Giang is the latest province having nearly 900 sick pigs and 115 that have died on 124 breeding farms in nine communes in Yen Dung district.

OOCL ADDS BANGLADESH PORT SURCHARGE
[27-07-2010] Orient Overseas Container Line, adding to a growing list of surcharges to compensate for port congestion in the Indian sub-continent, said it will apply port congestion surcharges on shipments from Hong Kong, Macau and South China to Bangladesh.The charges effective Aug. 1 follow Cosco Container Lines?announcement that it will impose a congestion surcharge at India’s Jawaharlal Nehru port for goods going to Europe effective Aug. 15.

JAN-JUL TEXTILE EXPORT FORECAST TO GROW 17% TO US$5.8 BILLION
[26-07-2010] HCMC ?The country’s garment and textile industry expects to obtain total export revenue of US$5.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17%, said Le Quoc An, chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas).An told the Daily on Sunday that the exportation of garment and textile products had been recovering this month, with revenue forecast to amount to US$1 billion.
