VIETNAM ASKS THE US TO CEASE MONITORING VN CLOTHING IMPORTS
The Import-export Department announced yesterday that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked the US Department of Commerce (DOC) to lift its monitoring mechanism on garment and textile imports from Vietnam.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) found insufficient evidence of apparel dumping by Vietnamese businesses to justify an anti-dumping investigation, the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) has said.

Garment export earned over US$5.8 billion from January to September, exceeding crude oil for the first time to top the list of Vietnam’s export staples. While the revenue from clothing exports increased 31 percent over last year, that from crude oil fell 12 percent to US$5.78 billion.

TOTAL GARMENT, TEXTILE EXPORT TURNOVER TO REACH US$7.5BIL THIS YEAR
Total export turnover from garment and textile products this year is expected to reach US $7.3-7.5 billion, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Trade Information Centre.

US SUPERVISION ON APPAREL IMPORTS FROM VIETNAM MAY BE EASED
It is very likely that the US will reduce the number of categories of apparel products considered ‘sensitive’ under the apparel imports monitoring programme, Vietnamese officials said.

JAN – AUG GARMENT EXPORT PUT AT US$5 BILLION
(SGT-HCMC) Vietnam’s garment export turnover amounted to some US$5 billion in the first eight months of the year, up about 30% year-on-year, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.
