HCMC HAS TO FACILITATE BIG-TICKET INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS: PM
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting with HCMC authorities urged the city to facilitate major infrastructure projects, including projects for renovating Tan Son Nhat International Airport and constructing Metro Line No.1, the local media reported, citing an announcement released on February 25 by the Government Office.
Also, the city has to quickly take steps to speed up social housing and resettlement projects, as well as map out multiple solutions to tackle traffic congestion, traffic accidents, flooding and climate change.
The prime minister in the statement also asked the city to promote the application of advanced technology and renovation to the city’s growth, boost administrative reform for the 2018-2020 period effectively and handle existing problems involving the environment.
Further, it has to develop the municipal economy and urban civilization in a synchronous way and should focus on improving the business environment, supporting local firms in raising their competitiveness and development.
HCMC should also give priority to attracting hi-tech investment into industrial parks and export processing zones, while limiting new labor-intensive projects.
