VAN DON TO BE RECREATIONAL- INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX WITH CASINO

The island district of Van Don in Quang Ninh province is set to become a sea-based economic zone including an entertainment complex with casinos and high-class sea and island tourism.

The Prime Minister has approved the adjustment of the Van Don Economic Zone until 2040 which covers all of the natural area of the district of 2,171km2.

Van Don is also planned to be a gateway for international trade; a green and smart sea urban area; and an area with a sustainable position in terms of security and defence.

The island district is anticipated to have a population of 140,000 – 200,000 by 2030 including 90,000 – 140,000 permanent residents. The population is expected to increase to 300,000 – 500,000 by 2040.

Van Don is an island district in the northern province of Quang Ninh which includes Cai Rong town and 11 communes.

The district is projected to feature five economic areas including a high-class ecological resort area, an ecotourism area combined with the protection of natural heritages; an urban area for cultural and entertainment services; an area for commerce and industry, high technology and logistics; and a reserve area for future expansion.
