SPEAKERS INFORMATION

Neil is a Principal at Arup and leads Arup’s Future Cities Hub in Singapore as well as the Advisory, Planning & Design business across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. His professional roots are in civil engineering and transport planning, and he has over 20 years of diverse city and development planning experience across UK, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.

Neil has led Arup’s work on a wide range of major integrated urban development projects including Dubai Expo 2020, Abu Dhabi Plan 2030, Indonesia New Capital, Penang Gateway and the Sentosa Master Plan.

 

Zoe is an experienced consultant in the area of Smart Communities i.e. making the places we work, live and play, more accessible, liveable and sustainable for all. Her experience has centred around Smart Mobility and Smart City/Smart Community engagements. In 2019 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for an international study tour focusing on Smart Mobility, which included participation in the ASEAN-Australian Smart Cities Leaders Program.

The combination of Zoe’s technical background and her consulting experience allows her to offer future-thinking, useful and realistic strategic advice for government agencies and the private sector.  She is a board member of the Australian Smart Communities Association, hosts The Smart Community Podcast and is an accomplished presenter on the subjects of Smart Cities, Smart Regions and the future of mobility. 

 

Mr. Phong Nguyen is currently a visiting researcher in Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, directed by A.M. Turing Award Winner, professor Yoshua Bengio. At Mila, he is working with Prof. Yoshua Bengio and Prof. Aaron Courville in couple projects in disentanglement, anomaly detection, and reinforcement learning.

He had more than 7 years working as industrial AI researcher for Hitachi, based in Tokyo, Japan. His topics were applying machine learning for human activity recognition, automatic control for industrial plants, robotics, etc. He is also consulting organizations in Vietnam to develop AI strategy and grow AI talents. Phong graduated his Master of Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. He is currently the Chief AI Officer of FPT Software.

 

Since 2010, Mr. Kevin Nguyen joined FPT Software - the biggest software company in South East Asia with 16,000 engineers. He is now SVP of the company, in charge of Automotive and Manufacturing Vertical Industries to provide software and technology services to semi-conductor manufacturers, tier-1 automotive suppliers, and OEMs worldwide with revenue of 134 million USD as of 2019.

Majoring in Electronics in Tohoku University (Sendai, Japan), he has a strong background in engineering and intensive experience working with Japanese customers.

 

Mathematical Engineer and PhD in Management Sciences, Dr. Nguyen Viet Long is currently (1) the Deputy CEO of Becamex Corporation, one of the leading Vietnamese developers in industrial parks, infrastructure, urban area & services, and (2) the Director of the Smart City Office of Binh Duong province in Vietnam, coordinating breakthrough strategic projects for the socio-economic development of the province.

Dr. Long is the former member of the scientific board of University Paris - Dauphine, and the Academic Assembly of Paris Sciences & Letters - community of 19 universities and institutes in Paris. He has been lecturing and conducting research internationally in management / economics in the U.S., France, Germany, Netherlands, China, Vietnam, and etc. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the scientific council of National Research Institute of Applied Mechanics & Informatics – Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology.

 

David Jackson is currently Chief Executive Officer for Colliers International in Vietnam.

David manages the operational aspects along with setting its strategic vision and goals. He maintains a rich portfolio of major clients through his high level of service, attention to detail and multi-disciplinary consulting experience.

He has a broad and diverse level of expertise in managing business, capital markets, transactional management, valuations and advisory.

David has a master’s degree in Surveying and a further Degree in Applied Biological Sciences. He is a Fellow of the RICS; a LEED Green Associate; a Certified Member of the British Institute of Facilities Management and also a Fellow of the Institute of Continuing Professional Development.

Prior to Vietnam David was the founding and operating partner of an award-winning business in the Hospitality Sector in the UK.
