NO.8 SCHOOL PROJECT IN DAC NONG PROVINCE

The No.8 branch of La Van Cau Primary School is situated in a remote village known as The Village with 8 "nothing". The Mong ethnic minority people live in scattered groups in the forest and have encroached on the land to cultivate crops and form residential groups. Initially, there were only a few households, but now there are 260 households with almost 1,700 people living in four groups. The 8 “nothing” Village means: NO name, NO electricity for lighting, NO clean water, NO phone signal, NO medical station, NO road, NO household registration and NO certificate of birth. The No.8 school branch teaches level 1 and 2 to approximately 104 students. The school has only five classrooms with minimal facilities, making it challenging for teachers to focus on teaching and their daily lives. To improve the educational environment for students and the lives of teachers and villagers, HKBAV Charity Fund has donated VND288,560,058 to purchase furniture, sunblock curtains, and built a kitchen, an outdoor playground, a community room, and a library.

HKBAV set up the Charity Funds in 2016 and over the years, more than 30 of groups/organizations has received funding over 2.8 billion dongs (USD$122,000) donated by our members and partners. HKBAV has taken on a longer term initiative under the banner of “Enable Learning Impart Knowledge” where we focus to fund sustainable initiatives in education, training and students’ welfare. HKBAV generally will chose to work groups/organizations that do not enjoy any privilege to ready fundings. To become a corporate or individual donor or if you have a project we should consider, send the information to hcmc@hkbav.org and we will follow up with you.
