THANK YOU TUNG SHING GROUP AND HANOI HOTEL FOR THE MOON CAKE DONATION SINCE 2010

Dear Members and Friends,

2020 has been a year of many disruptions and much uncertainty.

Vietnam went from panic lockdown in the early days to become one of the most successful countries in containing COVID-19 to dealing with the recent cases mainly in Danang right now, all in a matter of months.

Business has not been easy for many, and we witnessed closure of some while others are now into alternative business products during the pandemic to stay afloat.

At HKBAV, we continue to provide coordination and support to our members, working with the HK and Vietnam government while applicable, to ensure information are disseminated in the most timely and accurate fashion.  We now spend most of our time cultivating the digital platform for information sharing from news to alert to webinars, swiftly moving into some previous unknown territories.

We continue our commitment to the most vulnerable and those under privileged in Vietnam through our Charity Funds this year. Committed donations were still being made and ad hoc donations for COVID-19 went out as per approved by the Board also.

Usually at this time of year, we will be preparing for the Moon Cakes Charity Sale for Mid Autumn Festival where we had raised thousands of dollars annually.  This year will have to be different because of COVID-19.  There were much challenges to ensure the safe delivery of the products from our sponsor to our members and then to their recipients. And for that very reason, HKBAV has decided that we will not be engaging in Moon Cakes Charity Sale this year and asked that our supportive members to donate the money directly to those who are in much needs during the pandemic.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Tung Shing Group and Hanoi Hotel for the support and donation to the Moon Cakes Charity Sale since 2010 which at the height of the program, we were receiving and selling 500 boxes a year adding significant funds to our Charity Fund.

While we are preparing when we can get together again and hopefully soon, we won’t be taking any unnecessary risks in organizing any in-person events until it is first allowed by the government.  We were lucky to have enjoyed our 99 days of no community infection and we will wait it out again.

Until we meet again, wear your masks, wash your hands and stay healthy.

Your sincerely,

Michael Chiu
Chairman, HKBAV
