There was a period in the early seventeenth century, when many European royals continuously recruited genius composers as servants and forced them to write music whenever requested. The term "Baroque" or "Barroco" - meaning "Ugly Black Pearl" in Portuguese was born to mark this stage of art from 1600-1750.
