CHANGING LEGAL LANDSCAPE FOR FOREIGN FIRMS

[11-05-2015] At present, it is difficult to say with certainty what constitutes a foreign invested enterprise under Vietnamese laws. Some legislation currently in effect suggests that any amount of foreign ownership constitutes a foreign invested company. Meanwhile, other legislation, also currently in use, is taken by many to mean that an enterprise with a threshold of 49 per cent and upwards constitutes a foreign invested enterprise (FIEs).

AMATA PLANS USD1.6 BILLION INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN QUANG NINH

[10-05-2015] Amata VN PCL, a unit of Thailand's biggest industrial estate developer, Amata Corp PCL, has announced plans to invest in an industrial park in the northern city of Quang Ninh. Somhatai Panichewa, president of Amata VN PCL said it will invest 70% in the joint venture with the remaining 30% owned by the Vietnamese Tuan Chau Group.

FDI IN REAL ESTATE REACHES $48 BILLION

[24-04-2015] Real estate will attract lucrative foreign direct investments in 2015 with the market recovering and Viet Nam set to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and other free trade pacts. The Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) announced this week that as of March 20, there were 475 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the real estate sector with a combined capital of US$48.4 billion.

CITY OFFICE OCCUPANCY AT SEVEN-YEAR HIGH: SAVILLS

[16-04-2015] The office-for-lease market in HCMC performed better in the first quarter than the final quarter of last year with average occupancy shooting up to a seven-year high, according to property service provider Savills Vietnam. Average occupancy climbed to 91% in the first three months of 2015, up one percentage point compared to the last quarter of 2014 and the same period last year.

HANOI PROPERTY MARKET HAS STRONG RECOVERY IN Q1

[06-04-2015] The real estate market in Ha Noi has seen a strong recovery, especially the luxury apartment segment, the CBRE Viet Nam announced yesterday in Ha Noi. In Q1 2015, the market continued its recovery with the comeback of high-end apartments. Construction of some 4,879 new units has begun among 18 projects, an 82 per cent against the same period in 2014, said Nguyen Hoai An, senior manager at CBRE Viet Nam's Ha Noi branch.
