THAI FIRMS INVESTING IN VIETNAM PLASTICS
[15-03-2016] Thai investors are increasingly investing in Viet Nam's plastic industry, with many of them keen to fully acquire the Government's stakes in companies it plans to equitise. Thai SCG Group alone has invested in 20 companies. Last year it acquired 80 per cent stakes in Tin Thanh Packing Joint Stock Company, one of the country's top manufacturers of flexible plastic packaging.
VN FIRMS ASKED TO PREP FOR FTA WITH EU
[04-03-2016] The ambassador and head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam has called on the Government and enterprises to prepare for the implementation of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU).
CUSTOMS TO UPDATE OPERATIONS
[26-02-2016] The General Department of Customs would enhance efforts of administrative reforms and modernisation this year to create favourable conditions for imports and exports, a conference heard yesterday. Speaking at the conference to raise measures to improve customs operations in 2016, General Director Nguyen Ngoc Tuc said that customs modernisation was just at an initial stage, and added that greater efforts were required.
CPI PICKS UP 0.42% IN FEBRUARY
[24-02-2016] The consumer price index (CPI) in February posted a month-on-month surge of 1.27% and went up 0.42% against last December, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). The CPI rose 1.03% in the first two months of 2016 against the same period last year.
CPI UP IN HA NOI, HCM CITY
[23-02-2016] The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the two major cities showed a slight increase in February due to the high demand for goods during Tet holidays, according to statistic offices. Ha Noi Statistics Office reported yesterday that the CPI for Ha Noi in February rose by 0.47 per cent against the previous month and 1.73 per cent year-on-year.
PROCESSING & MANUFACTURING SEE POSITIVE SIGNS
[22-02-2016] Up to 91.1% of processing and manufacturing enterprises were upbeat about economic prospect with higher contracts, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). The GSO recently released a report on business trend of processing and manufacturing enterprises.
