After our Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung,'s official visit to Vietnam in late August, we would like to share more information on Hong Kong's visa facilitation to Vietnamese community as follows:
INDUSTRIAL HUBS TO PROPEL INNOVATION
Increasing emphasis on integrating innovation hubs into industrial parks is signifying a fresh direction in collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing Vietnam’s industrial advancement. Vietnam’s Becamex IDC Corporation and Singapore’s Sembcorp, two pivotal stakeholders of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP), has unveiled the Vietnam-Singapore Innovation Centre in the southern province of Binh Duong.
HCMC TO CLEAR FOREST LAND FOR TRANSSHIPMENT PORT
As outlined in the project proposal, the Can Gio International Transshipment Port requires a total of 571 hectares of land. Of this, 90 hectares of mangrove forest would have to be cleared, including nearly 83 hectares of natural mangrove forest and seven hectares of land without trees. The project would also utilize 481 hectares of water surface.
ADB PROVIDES US$13.8 MILLION FOR ROOFTOP SOLAR PROJECTS IN VIETNAM
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a US$13.8 million deal with GreenYellow Smart Solutions Vietnam Company (GreenYellow) to support rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. This loan agreement will aid in developing and operating solar PV systems on the rooftops of commercial and industrial establishments across the country.

86.3% OF TENANTS IN IZS COME INTO OPERATION
The industrial zones (IZs) in Vinh Phuc province welcomed six new projects into operation in August 2023, bringing the total number of operational projects in the IZs to 403 (330 FDI projects and 73 DDI projects), which accounted for 86.3% of the total projects.
FRASERS PROPERTY VIETNAM RECEIVES LEED GOLD CERTIFICATION FOR NEW COMMERCIAL BUILDING
Frasers Property Vietnam announced on September 7 that its commercial building Worc@Q2 has received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for Operations and Maintenance. Awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the certification recognises Worc@Q2’s strong sustainable and healthy building practices.
VIETNAM EMERGES AS GROWTH ENGINE WITH FOCUS ON HIGHER QUALITY FDI
According to a joint report ‘Vietnam: A Global Engine of Growth’ released by Golden Gate Ventures and Boston Consulting Group on September 7, there is an expected increase in trade for ASEAN of $1 trillion by 2031, with China, Japan and South Korea, the EU and the US being some of the largest contributors. Within ASEAN, Vietnam will take centre stage in under a decade, as the country is already leading the pack in GDP growth.
