[11-08-2016] The southeastern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on August 10 organised a conference in Ho Chi Minh City calling for investment in four major areas. Those four areas are hi-tech industrial projects with high added value, energy saving, environmentally friendly and highly competitive products; seaport logistics for Cai Mep – Thi Vai international transit port; high-quality tourism projects focusing on sea resort tourism, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events ( MICE ) tourism, high-quality ecotourism and spiritual tourism; hi-tech agricultural projects with processing facilities and agricultural mechanics.

CAN THO ATTRACTS $175M IN FDI
[09-08-2016] Cần Thơ City has attracted US$175.7 million of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital this year, including a South Korean shoe-production plant that will be the largest FDI project in the Mekong Delta region.
HCMC LOOKS TO CREDIT GROWTH OF 18-20%
[08-08-2016] HCMC is striving to achieve credit growth of 18-20% this year, an eight-year high, heard a session of the HCMC People’s Council on August 4. Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy director of the central bank’s HCMC branch, told the second session of the council that the city saw credit expanding 9% in 2013, 12% in 2014 and 15% in 2015, and that the estimate for this year is 18-20%.

APPAREL FIRMS WORRY ABOUT 2017 WAGE HIKE PLAN
[04-08-2016] A number of enterprises in the labor-intensive textile-garment industry have expressed concern over the National Wage Council’s plan to increase the region-based minimum wages by 7.3% on average next year, saying the cost burden would be heavier for them.
AMATA TO BUILD SECOND IZ IN VIETNAM
[04-08-2016] The company says the project will be built on nearly 1,300ha, 40 per cent of land will be an industrial estate and 60 per cent will be accommodations and commercial buildings. Amata chief executive officer Somhatai Panichewa said total investment for the project is estimated at US$800 million.
NEW DECREE ON CONDITIONS TO ESTABLISH TISSUE BANK
[04-08-2016] The Prime Minister has issued Decree No 118/2016/ND-CP to adjust or supplement some articles of Decree No 56/2008/ND-CP on the organisation and operation of tissue banks and the National Coordination Centre for Human Organ Transplantation.
