CUSTOMS CLEARANCE RESUMED AT LAO CAI BORDER GATE
Competent forces of Vietnam and China on February 8 resumed customs clearance for exports and imports at Kim Thanh International Border Gate No. 2 in the northern province of Lao Cai.
These procedures had been suspended due to fears of the novel coronavirus (nCoV) that originated in China.
On the first day of customs clearance resumption, a total of 54 Chinese agricultural product trucks were licensed to enter Vietnam, while eight Vietnamese farm produce trucks were allowed to go into China’s territory.
Vietnam has set up a quarantine area for all trucks from China right at the border gate. After being sterilised, these trucks are driven by Vietnamese drivers during the process of custom clearance and trading, which is closely supervised.
After the goods are unloaded, the trucks will be taken to the quarantine area and handed over to Chinese drivers.
There still remain 3,000 tonnes of Vietnamese agricultural products waiting for customs clearance at the border gate.

CONSTRUCTION SECTOR POSTS OVER 9% GROWTH IN 2025
Industries under the ministry’s management accounted for an estimated 17.23% of national gross domestic product (GDP), up about 0.17 percentage point from 2024. They contributed around 1.96 percentage points to overall GDP growth, reported the Vietnam News Agency. The contribution helped push Vietnam’s economic growth to above 8% in 2025 and supports the Government’s aim of pursuing double-digit growth in the coming years.

VIETNAM PUTS PUBLIC INVESTMENT DISBURSEMENTS AT VND603.6 TRILLION
Vietnam’s public investment disbursements had amounted to VND603.6 trillion in the year to December 18, equivalent to 66.1% of the plan assigned by the prime minister. According to the Ministry of Finance, actual disbursements by December 11 had totaled VND577.7 trillion, or 63.3% of the prime minister-approved plan of VND913.2 trillion, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
