DA NANG CUSTOMS FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING CUSTOMS-BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS
Da Nang Customs Department issued an action plan for developing customs-business partnership in 2024. One of the new events this year is the workshop on “Settlement reports for enterprises engaged in outsourcing, export production and export processing” held in Da Nang Customs Department on April 16, 2024.
The workshop aimed to change contents and methods to provide substantive, practical and insightful support for companies, thus continuing to support businesses in overcoming difficulties in the customs clearance process, including settlement reports on outsourcing, export production, and export processing.
In 2024, customs-business partnership development remains a central activity to communicate and provide information for businesses through information exchange channels. Da Nang Customs has effectively applied technologically enabled communication methods. The department modernized customs law enforcement supervision channels powered by information technology application solutions; expanded monitoring channels, tools, and utilities for people and businesses to have more options for overseeing customs law enforcement.
The department continued to facilitate and support export, import and transit activities to help attract investment and increase the amount of import, export and transit goods in the city. At the same time, the department focused on cooperating with warehouse, yard and port operators, shipping lines and customs agents to respect customs laws, facilitate customs inspection and supervision, exchange information, and assess and classify regulatory compliance of enterprises.
In Q1, the total merchandise import and export value in Da Nang City was estimated at US$763.4 million, up 9.9% year on year, of which exports accounted for US$462.8 million, up 5.6%, and imports were worth US$300.6 million, up 17.1%. The trade surplus was US$162.2 million in the first three months of 2024.
