Speaking at a working session with the local leaders on Sunday, the Government chief warned that the COVID-19 pandemic may evolve complicatedly, thus one of the immediate tasks is to effectively contain and push back the pandemic and prevent outbreaks in industrial parks.
Binh Duong, one of the biggest industrial hubs in Viet Nam, was asked to continue sustaining vigilance and strictly combining 5K plus vaccine strategy in preventing and controlling the pandemic.
It was also requested to stand ready for the scenario of aggressive rise in new infection cases and ramp up antigen rapid screening tests to quickly detect infection cases.
Binh Duong , now home to 29 industrial parks with around 500,000 workers, has confirmed 221 community infection cases since the fourth COVID-19 wave began in Viet Nam on April 27, 2021, according to Duong Nguyen Van Thao - Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
The majority of these cases were infected with a variant first found in India and they are linked to several outbreaks in Ho Chi Minh City, said Duong.
The local authorities have imposed lockdown on Thuan An city, Tan Uyen town and some wards of Thu Dau Mot city.
Most of the outbreaks in the communities have been put under control, said Duong, adding that the locality has deployed measures to prevent COVID-19 from spreading to industrial parks.
