VN TO LAUNCH E-VISAS BY 2017
[21-12-2016] Viet Nam will grant e-visas to foreigners from 2017-2018, aiming to attract more tourists and foreign visitors as well as boosting the domestic tourism industry, according to the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.
HCMC PROPOSES 36-HOLE GOLF COURSE IN CAN GIO
[01-12-2016] The government of HCMC has asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to seek Prime Minister’s approval for a 36-hole golf course covering over 135 hectares in the city’s outlying coastal district of Can Gio. In a written petition sent to the ministry, the city proposed adding the golf course project in Long Hoa Commune and Can Thanh Town to the country’s golf course development plan until 2020.
SALARY RAISES LOWER THAN LAST YEAR, BUT EXPECTED TO RISE IN 2017

MINIMUM REGIONAL WAGE TO INCREASE FROM 2016
[23-11-2015] Since January 1, 2016, monthly minimum wage for employees will surge from VND 2.4 million (US$114) to VND 3.5 million (US$166), according to Decree 122/2015/ND-CP on monthly minimum wage for employees. The beneficiaries include employees who work for companies, enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, farms, households, individuals and agencies, organizations employing laborers.

WAGES TO GO UP 5% NEXT MAY
[13-11-2015] The National Assembly (NA) has assigned the Government to increase the minimum monthly salary of public servants by around 5% to VND1.21 million as from May 1, 2016. In a resolution on the 2016 State budget estimates which received approval from 392 of 435 deputies on November 11, the Government is also tasked with ensuring incomes of those whose wage coefficients are smaller than 2.34 will not be lower than the current levels.
FOREIGN LABOURERS’ INTERNAL MOVEMENT WITHIN ENTERPRISES: OBSTACLES REMAIN
[12-11-2015] Circular 41/2014/TT-BCT issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade dated November 5, 2014 stipulates foundations and procedures to define foreign labourers’ internal movement in enterprises operating in 11 service sectors specified in Vietnam’s commitments schedule to the WTO not subject to labour licensing.
VIETNAM SHOE AND GARMENT EXPORTS SEE DRASTIC SLOWDOWN IN 2016
[28-12-2016] Vietnam’s export of garment and shoes seems poised to record significantly lower growth this year. The numbers for the whole year of 2016 are not available yet, but according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the total export of garment and textile products was $22.58 billion in the year to December 15, up 4.8 per cent on-year. This is the lowest growth in 10 years.
