INDUSTRIAL PARK COVERAGE HIT OVER 73%
As of late 2018, industrial parks and economic zones attracted 7,500 domestic projects worth VND 970,000 billion (US$ 41.4 billion) and 8,000 FDI projects with over US$ 145 billion.
Coverage rate of industrial parks and economic zones reached over 73%.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoPI) reported that in 2018, industrial parks and economic zones absorbed over US$ 8.3 billion including US$ 5.3 billion of 560 new FDI projects and US$ 3 billion of additional capital.
Viet Nam houses 17 coastal economic zones with a total area of 845,000 hectares.
In addition, Viet Nam has 326 industrial parks with a total natural area of nearly 93,000 hectares.
Out of 326 industrial parks, 250 parks have come into operation with a total area of 68,000 hectares. Meanwhile, 76 others have finalized site clearance with a total area of 25,000 hectares.
Regarding water treatment, out of 250 operating industrial parks, 218 has sewage treatment factories.
The MOPI announced that the ministry will perfect the legal regulations in investment, industrial parks, and processing zones to boost FDI attraction; set specific criteria and conditions for investment selection in favor of technology, environment, and development orientation.
