THAI FIRMS INVESTING IN VIETNAM PLASTICS
[15-03-2016] Thai investors are increasingly investing in Viet Nam's plastic industry, with many of them keen to fully acquire the Government's stakes in companies it plans to equitise. Thai SCG Group alone has invested in 20 companies. Last year it acquired 80 per cent stakes in Tin Thanh Packing Joint Stock Company, one of the country's top manufacturers of flexible plastic packaging.

SOFTWARE PARK ALLIANCE APPROVED
[07-03-2016] Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a pilot programme to expand the country's software parks by setting up Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) alliance. Under the pilot programme, HCM City together with other localities or provinces will upgrade infrastructure for IT development.
PROPOSED LENDING CHANGES THREATEN MARKET RECOVERY
[02-03-2016] Property experts are warning that the draft amended Circular 36 of the State Bank of Vietnam on credit tightening could have a detrimental effect on the real estate sector, which is still undergoing a process of recovery. According to this draft, loans pouring into the real estate sector are expected to be tightened so as to prevent the sector’s robust growth from turning into a real estate market bubble.
