MEKONG DELTA SEES 17.6% RISE IN TOURIST ARRIVALS IN H1

HCMC – Vietnam’s Mekong Delta saw more than 35.19 million tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2025, up 17.6% from a year earlier, according to the Mekong Delta Tourism Association.
The figure includes over two million international visitors, surging 53.4% year-on-year. Domestic travelers accounted for around 33 million, up 16%.
Tourism revenue in the region reached more than VND53.88 trillion, a 54.5% rise from the same period last year.
At a meeting held on July 9 in Can Tho City to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Vietnam’s tourism sector, the association reported notable growth in both domestic and international visitor numbers, as well as tourism revenue.
Speaking at the event, Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, standing vice chairwoman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, called on Mekong Delta provinces and cities to develop action plans aligned with sustainable tourism goals. She emphasized the need for green tourism development, digital transformation, and the adoption of information technology in tourism management and operations.
Lan also encouraged localities to invest in distinctive tourism services, particularly ecotourism, community-based tourism, and green tourism. Building a professional and culturally rich image of the Mekong Delta was highlighted as a key strategy to enhance the region’s appeal to both domestic and international travelers.
Also at the event, 29 destinations across the region were recognized with awards and certificates for their tourism performance in 2025.

FDI REGISTRATIONS REACH US$6.03 BILLION IN JAN–FEB
Vietnam saw US$6.03 billion in foreign investment registered in the first two months of 2026, down 12.6% year-on-year, while disbursed foreign direct investment (FDI) rose 8.8% to US$3.21 billion, the highest level for the two-month period in the past five years. According to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Finance, the total registered foreign investment, including newly licensed projects, additional capital and capital contributions or share purchases, amounted to US$6.03 billion as of the end of February.
