WELCOME TO HONG KONG AS WE SCRAP HOTEL QUARANTINE
We are excited to share with you that Hong Kong has scrapped mandatory hotel quarantine for inbound travellers. We have also streamlined the entry arrangements, as part of our roadmap to connect with the world and facilitate activities and people flow essential to socio-economic recovery. Here are some highlights under the new “0+3” model:
1) Pre-departure nucleic acid test is no longer required. Instead, you just need to declare negative result of rapid antigen test (RAT) (self-administered or by professional swab sampling) which is conducted within 24 hours before scheduled departure time via an online portal.
2) "Test-and-go", instead of “test-and-hold”, at Hong Kong airport, i.e. once given specimen for the nucleic acid test, you are free to go home or head to your hotel, without the need to wait for the result at the airport.
3) Under the "0+3" model, you are subject to 3-day medical surveillance under an “Amber Code”, followed by 4-day self-monitoring. While you cannot enter certain mask-off premises (eg. restaurants for dine-in), you can take public transport, go to work, and enter supermarkets. Once you test negative on the nucleic test conducted on Day 2 (arrival day counted as Day 0), your Amber Code will lose effect at 9 am on Day 3, and you will enjoy unfettered access around the city.
4) Nucleic tests are only required on Day 2, 4 and 6 and advance bookings can be made conveniently online. Daily self-administered ART tests are needed from Day 1 to 7.
5) Vaccination requirement for Hong Kong residents is lifted. Non-Hong Kong residents aged 12 or above still need to be fully vaccinated (generally means 2 doses) or possess a medical exemption certificate.
